Day 4 Sept 19th We Started out to Masai Mara Sopa Lodge, a 6 hour drive. Upon our arrival we were greeted with goats and villagers Michael our guide, steer our vehicle carefully around the goats, but one slipped in between the wheels and was run over! Michael had to do a lot of negotiation and didn’t want to talk about what happened. We assume he had to buy 1/2 a goat. Then as we got closer to the entrance of the lodge we had to deal with the villagers, selling what I call tourist trash. They were relentless, even to the point of opening our vehicle window and pushing their wares inside. After a bit of a nap we went to the village to hear about their culture and learn about how they lived. They paid 10 cows for a wife unless they could jump high. If they could their payment was only 7 cows. Then they put their talents on display. Some of them could jump really high! Their huts were small and hot with as many as 10 people living there. They showed us how they started a fire. I thought Randy might be able to start a fire too, but alas, he failed. Then we went to their market and offered more trinkets for sale. Everyday is a safari here, and on the way home we saw Monkeys, Wildebeest, Thompson Gazelles, Elephants and Lions
